The Albany plant is the third Georgia-Pacific plant. The other two are located in Talladega, Alabama and Warrenton, Georgia.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Georgia-Pacific, in a meeting hosted in town hall, updated the community on the new state-of-the-art lumber mill in Albany, southwest Georgia. The updates were provided with regards to progress of construction activities and recruitment process at the mill facility.
Ginger Jones, HR Manager noted that the facility is expected to create 140 new positions in total. Out of this 40 positions are filled already, which implies that another 100 positions remain open as of now. The company plans to host a job fair on Saturday, June 22nd, from 8AM to 5PM, which will be held at the Mercy Acres Event Centre, located in the heart of Albany. Out of the 40 hired, 37% are from the city itself, whereas 51% are from outside places, who in turn have relocated to Albany. The relocations would ensure that more money will come into the city, Jones noted.
