Further to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Communications and the Swiss Embassy in Egypt in 2016, a meeting was held between officials belonging to both entities to discuss ways to promote sustainable recycling efforts in the country. The country has already granted licenses to seven factories capable of safe recycling of electronic waste.

The new project would launch an awareness campaign to educate people of the country on the ill effects of improper disposal of electronic waste. It intends to offer training to large number of people on safe and healthy waste disposal techniques. Furthermore, it will create large number of job opportunities in the country.
