DS Smith Won Prestigious Gold Award at the Slovenian Packaging Oscar 2020

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Packaging leader DS Smith announced that it has won a prestigious Gold Award at the 38^th Slovenian Packaging Oscar 2020 Award for its innovative, eco- friendly E-commerce packaging solution. The company also won two Honourable Mentions at the biennial traditional packaging Oscar event.

The cost-effective and eco-friendly reusable e-commerce box won the Gold Award. The box could be assembled quickly, without the need for additional gluing. It is strong enough to resist the shocks and damages during transits. The origami folding along with tamper-evident closure prevents unauthorized access to products. The box also provides an extra space on top for personalized or special promotional messages.

The innovative solution is being designed in line with the company's 'Now and Next' sustainability strategy.

According to DS Smith, the packaging material for the box is made out of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified papers. The box, made of nearly 80% recycled fibre, is very easy to recycle. Also, it could be reused in case of returns.

The Slovenian Packaging Oscar Award jury commented that the e-commerce packaging, designed and developed by DS Smith has an innovative one-piece design. 

Two packaging solutions-sustainable wrap with eco handle for beverages, triangle eco gift packaging, developed by the company for the beverages segment, were shortlisted and awarded with Honourable Mentions.
