DS Smith Honored with Three Awards at the Latest ScanStar

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith’s sustainable packaging solutions have won three awards at the prestigious ScanStar. The teams in Denmark, Sweden and Finland were honored by the Scandinavian competition, with Finland grabbing the award for the third consecutive year. All the three award-winning solutions will now compete for the worldwide competition organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO).

DS Smith Denmark’s Arla Unika corrugated e-commerce packaging was awarded with “Special Sustainable Packaging” award. The innovative cardboard packaging solution contains insulating material which helps to keep the products cool during transport.

The second award was won by DS Smith Finland for its Christmas calendar filled with liquorice. The unique sustainable design, the plastic-free structure and its further use in children’s play made it a standout from other solutions. The calendar is made entirely of cardboard, thus making it easy to dispose of and recycle.

The DS Smith Sweden’s Coffin, made from recycled cardboard won the award for its innovative design and compliant structure. The product was highlighted by the jury as a sustainable alternative to traditional coffins.

The ScanStar award ceremony will be held on October 28^th, along with the annual PackSummit event, which will be held online this year.
