DS Smith Declares Innovative 'Now and Next' Sustainability Strategy

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading packaging producer DS Smith plc announced its new sustainability vision and strategy. The new strategy named ‘Now and Next’ outlines the company’s sustainability commitments and goals to contribute to a circular economy for the next decade.

The innovative approach will continue to focus on the transition to a circular economy through new partnerships with various stakeholders. In addition, it will also focus on reducing carbon dioxide emissions and water consumption, in addition to protecting biodiversity. It must be noted that DS Smith had achieved 11% reduction in emissions in 2019, when compared with 2015 baseline.

The new strategy aims to manufacture 100% reusable or recyclable packaging by 2030. Also, all packaging will reused or recycled by 2030. The company aims to optimize fiber use for individual supply chains in 100 percent of its new packaging solutions. Every fiber will be optimized for all supply chains by 2030.

By 2025, it will take 1 billion pieces of problem plastics off store shelves, take 250,000 vehicles off the road and find solutions for hard-to-recycle packaging. All of its employees will be engaged on the circular economy by 2025. Furthermore, 5 million people will be engaged on circular economy by 2030.
