DS Smith Mills Press Forward Efforts to Cut Carbon Emissions

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Global packaging major DS Smith announced new partnership with World Kinect Energy Services, which will help the company manage energy consumption at DS Smith facilities across 26 European countries. The partnership is expected to drive sustainability goals by providing big boost to its efforts to achieve 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.

The partnership intends to focus largely on the company’s 14 paper mills in the European region. World Kinect Energy Services will offer tactical solutions to DS Smith in purchasing and use of energy. In addition, it would also help the company in increasing mill efficiencies and minimizing waste involved in its production process. The services offered will include market intelligence, regulatory reporting and cost and consumption reporting.

DS Smith has been able to achieve 11% reduction in emissions in 2019, as compared with the 2015 levels.

Gerald Maunz, Procurement Director for Energy at DS Smith praised World Kinect Energy Services for their professionalism, price risk management skills and reporting capabilities. Meantime, Terry Cogan, Vice President at World Kinect Energy Services noted that the company will work with DS Smith over the next three years to maximize their energy data.
