The DS Smith garden, titled “On the Edge of Tomorrow” focuses on the need for a rapid change in lifestyles to halt climate change. Designed by landscape architects Sebastian Loder and Nina Loderova, the garden draws attention to the fragility of our ecosystems. The garden is in continuation of the recently installed five insect hotels, which offer shelter and nesting facilities to insects, at the nearby Urban Ecological Park.

Mario Amaral, Viana Mill Manager, noted that the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival is a special event for the local community and that the company is proud to be supporting this great cause as part of its biodiversity programme. The garden project will help share knowledge about how to protect the environment, he added.

DS Smith had recently reached its target of launching over 100 biodiversity projects across its global facilities, including the Viana, Portugal kraft liner paper mill.
