SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The public comment period for the proposal to issue an air quality permit to Aluminum Dynamics, Inc. is ending soon.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has been receiving comments on the proposed 174,000 square foot processing plant, which will cover 200 acres in Benson, since July 16.
ADEQ reminds the public that they still have time to comment until midnight on Aug. 21. Those interested can submit an air quality specific comment through ADEQ's website or by emailing airpermits@azdeq.gov.
According to the Aluminum Dynamics permit application to ADEQ, over 40 tons of particulate, a mix of solid particles and liquid droplets, will be emitted into local air from the proposed aluminum processing plant.
Officials said the proposed plant will also release hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from four 100-foot emission towers on the site.
