SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canfor Corporation has announced its decision to support construction of the first phase of Arbios Biotech’s innovative biomass to low carbon biofuel plant in Prince George, B.C.
The proposed facility will employ first-of-a-kind technology to convert sawmill residues into high value renewable biocrude, which is further processed in refineries to produce low-carbon transportation fuels.
In addition, the company proclaimed new sustainability goals, in line with its ambition to become a leader in sustainability by strengthening its partnerships with indigenous communities.

Don Kayne, President and CEO, Canfor said that the newly embarked sustainability journey will change the way it works and the impacts the company have on people and the planet. The sustainable solutions offered by the company will protect and nurture communities and the environment, he added.
The company also announced senior leadership changes. Pat Elliot has been appointed as the CFO for Canfor and Canfor Pulp. Also, Alan Nicholl has been appointed to the roles of Executive Vice President, Bio-Based Solutions & Pulp Operations and President and CEO, Arbios Biotech.
Arbios Biotech is a joint venture project between Canfor Corporation and Licella Holdings Ltd., aimed at providing low-carbon circular economy solutions around the world using Licella’s breakthrough technology.
