BIR Session to Spotlight on Emerging Tariffs for Recycled Non-Ferrous Metals

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The growing wave of tariffs and trade restrictions in the global non-ferrous metals market will be the focus of the Non-Ferrous Metals Division plenary session, which will take place during the next BIR World Recycling Convention in Valencia. It should be mentioned that recyclers all over the world have been impacted by this significant issue.

Paul Coyte, divisional president of BIR, will chair the plenary session.

The first-ever Non-Ferrous Legends Award will be unveiled during the session and given to a remarkable person in recognition of their contributions to the industry's development. Only during the session will the recipient's identify be disclosed.

The honoree will provide special insights into how the market has changed during challenging periods of protectionism and free trade after the award ceremony.

The lecture by Philippe Chalmin, Professor of Economic History at Paris-Dauphine University, will come next. He will give a thorough economic study of how trade restrictions, shifting alliances, and geopolitical instability affect the flow of non-ferrous minerals. A data-supported prognosis on current trends and potential future situations will also be included in the presentation.

The Recycled Materials Association's (ReMA) Vice President of International Trade and Global Affairs, Adam Shaffer, will then discuss how the US market is adjusting to tariffs and changing trade regulations.

Divisional Board Member Rick Dobkin of BIR will moderate a lengthy Q&A session before the session ends.
