SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Zurich-headquartered packaging producer Amcor announced that it has joined the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW). The packaging company will join the alliance’s Executive Committee.
According to company press release, it aligns with the Alliance’s principle that collaboration and collective action are critical to eliminating plastic waste. The membership in the Alliance is in line with Amcor’s 2025 Sustainability Pledge, which aims to have all of its packaging to be recyclable or reusable by 2025.
Ron Delia, Amcor CEO said that collaboration across the global value chain will help in delivering better waste management and recycling opportunities. The AEPW serves as a crucial forum for that collaborative effort. Amcor looks forward to working with other members of the Alliance to advance on its shared ambitions for responsible packaging, he added.
Jacob Duer, Chief Executive, AEPW noted that addition of Amcor to the Executive Committee will further strengthen the links to the packaging industry. Amcor’s expertise will bring new capabilities to its project portfolio and boost its efforts to end plastic waste in the environment, Duer said.
