SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. Aluminum Company has signed an exploratory agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Century Aluminum to evaluate the development of a downstream aluminum fabrication plant near the proposed primary aluminum smelter in Inola, Oklahoma. The smelter project, known as Oklahoma Primary Aluminum, is expected to significantly expand U.S. primary aluminum capacity and position the state as a national manufacturing hub.

U.S. Aluminum Company becomes the first downstream firm to align with the developers. The proposed facility would convert locally produced liquid aluminum into value-added products for the electrical, defense, aerospace, automotive and machinery sectors. The company was founded by the Plotkin family of Oklahoma City, owners of M-D Building Products.

EGA and Century Aluminum are jointly developing the smelter, with EGA holding a 60% stake and Century 40%. The plant will deploy EGA’s advanced EX smelting technology, representing the most sophisticated system installed in the United States.

Construction is expected to begin by late 2026, with first production targeted before the end of the decade, reinforcing domestic supply chains and industrial investment.
