SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has completed the acquisition of an 80% stake in Italian aluminium recycler Eco Green. The transaction further strengthens its position in Europe’s growing recycled aluminium market.
The deal, first announced in April, received all necessary regulatory clearances and satisfied the required closing conditions.
Eco Green will be renamed EGA Eco Green, while the Scappini family will retain a minority interest and continue to participate in management.

Founded in 1993, Eco Green operates two facilities in northeast Italy and handles more than 70,000 tonnes of aluminium products annually. Its operations include scrap collection, sorting, secondary aluminium casting and dross processing. The company serves more than 60 customers across Europe.
Its Villafranca di Verona facility collects and sorts about 23,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap each year. The nearby Nogara di Verona plant produces more than 20,000 tonnes of secondary aluminium sows annually, with an ongoing expansion expected to add approximately 20,000 tonnes of recycling capacity by the end of this year.
EGA said the acquisition will enhance its access to Europe’s aluminium scrap market and support its strategy to expand low-carbon aluminium production.The acquisition will lift EGA’s global aluminium recycling capacity above 400,000 tonnes per year across the UAE, U.S., Germany and Italy. It must be noted that another 200,000 tonnes of capacity is currently under development.
