SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production decreased by roughly 1.50% in the week ending March 8, 2025. A comparison between this week and the same week last year served as the basis for this.
The United States produced 1.671 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. 75.0% of the domestic mill's capacity was being used. It's crucial to keep in mind that output reached 1.696 million NT during the same week last year, with a marginally higher capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.

The production for the week ending March 8, 2025, grew by 1.8% in comparison to the previous week, which ended on March 1, 2025, when crude steel output totaled 1.641 million NT at a capability utilization rate of 73.7%.
The Southern region produced the most, with 762,000 net tons. The Great Lakes area produced 472,000 net tons throughout the week. The productions (in thousand net tons) for the other regions are North East-128, Midwest-237, and Western-72.
As of March 8, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 15.850 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 74.4%. This represents a 1.3% decrease from the same time in 2024, when production was 16.055 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 75.8%.
