January 16, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Recorded Increase on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese aluminum scrap prices witnessed increase on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Thursday, January 16, 2025. Copper Scrap prices were up from the previous day. Also, Brass/Bronze scrap prices edged higher on the Index. In contrast, Steel and Stainless Steel scrap prices held steady when compared with the previous day’s price.

Copper Scrap Prices

The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices were up by CNY 900 per MT.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing saw price rise of CNY 900 per MT.

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased by CNY 900 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by CNY 450 per MT over the previous day. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery edged higher by CNY 200 per MT when compared with the day before.

Copper Transformer scrap prices inched higher by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day. Cu Yokes prices also were up by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap prices increased by CNY 200 per MT.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices inched higher by CNY 100 per MT over the previous day’s price.

Heater Cores were up by CNY 350 per MT as of Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Also, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices witnessed an increase of CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions witnessed a rise of CNY 200 per MT over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots prices too were up by CNY 200 per MT.

Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers prices increased by CNY 100 per MT each on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices inched higher by CNY 200 per MT.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices jumped higher by CNY 200 per MT each as of January 16, 2025.

Also, UBC and Zorba 90% NF prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day’s prices.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of January 16, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap too reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices were unchanged over the previous day.

304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices also were flat on the Index.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid scrap prices held steady when compared with the prior day.

310 SS prices witnessed no variation as of January 16, 2025.

Shred SS prices held constant on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China reported increase from the previous day.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were up by CNY 100 per MT as of January 16, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices also edged higher by CNY 150 per MT each over the previous day.
