Aluminum 6063 grade is often referred to as architectural alloy. It is an extrusion alloy with relatively high tensile properties, weld ability and high corrosion resistance. It has excellent finishing characteristics. Incidentally, 6063 is the most popular alloy in the 6000 series and is used in a variety of applications that require both strength and appearance.
It is the most common alloy used for aluminum extrusions. Normally, 6063 Aluminum Extrusion scrap shall consist of clean aluminum profile extrusions including window, shop fittings, irrigation tubes and door frames. However, it must be free of screws, iron components, plastics, rubber or other foreign materials.
6061 Aluminum Extrusions scrap carry significant value. The different grades of 6000 series of Aluminum Extrusions are difficult to identify using naked eyes. Scrap yards often use metal analyzers to determine the various grades.
