SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): WWF- the world’s leading conservation organization announced launch of “The Blueprint for Credible Action on Plastic Pollution". The blue print aims at promoting efforts to fight world’s plastic pollution through innovative science-based solutions.
According to WWF, the current waste management and recycling infrastructure are inadequate to handle the sheer volumes of new materials entering the system. Immediate action needs to be taken to fix this broken system and shift to a novel approach to plastic use. It called upon businesses to act urgently to halt the flow of plastic pollution into the environment.
The blueprint aims to identify gaps in existing programs and explore opportunities for expansion and collaboration in the fight against plastic pollution. It could immensely benefit companies that are in the process of initiating a new plastic strategy and also those expanding existing strategies and plans. Furthermore, the blueprint will help in delivering better plastic footprint calculations.
The plastic pollution crisis has become one of the most pressing environmental issues, with plastics flowing into the nature at an unprecedented rate.
