The steel experts from WorldAutoSteel, along with engineering and environmental experts from Ricardo are currently engaged in a project, which aims to develop two innovative vehicle concepts for mobility as a service (Maas) applications- a smaller four-passenger “SEM1” variant is intended for inner-city journeys and a larger six-passenger variant (SEM2) intended for longer inter-city journeys.
The AHSS steel concepts will be finalized by early next year. The Steel E-Motive project will make use of AHSS capabilities to provide sustainable, safe and affordable transport solutions around and between cities.
Both the vehicles will be ‘all electric’, which in turn will ensure that there will be zero tailpipe emissions. They will be engineered to minimise greenhouse gas emissions during vehicle manufacturing stage as well as during its lifecycle.
During initial phase, the autonomous vehicles will operate alongside owner-driven vehicles, so as to minimize the risks of collision.
