WestRock Heralds Plans to Sell Former Paper Mill Property in Newberg

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): WestRock Company announced plans to sell its property in Newberg, Oregon, in which it had run a paper mill. The property spans across 220 acres, which comprises of nearly 100 acres of developable land. The company has retained Colliers International to assist with the sale.

John Stakel, senior vice president and treasurer of WestRock stated that the decision to sell the property comes after several unsuccessful attempts by the company to develop the property in partnership with the City. WestRock is encouraged by the interest in the property. The property presents a great opportunity for complete redevelopment, which in turn could result in long-term benefits for local residents, Stakel added.

It must be noted that the company had repurposed some of the paper-making equipment and components at the Newberg sites.

Meantime, Rick Rogers, mayor of Newberg applauded WestRock’s collaboration and partnership in the Riverfront Master Plan process. The City looks forward to work with WestRock and potential buyers to redevelop the property to boost economic revitalization of the entire region, he added.
