SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Western Forest Products (WFP) released its 2020 Sustainability Report, which highlights the progress and commitment to its key sustainability initiatives. The company reassured that it will build on the progress made in 2020 to enhance its sustainability practices and initiatives in future.
According to the report, the company’s activities during 2018 and 2019 have helped in removal of around 14.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent from the atmosphere. WFP reported 27% surge in big trees conserved, compared to 2019. It replanted 3 trees for every tree harvested during the previous year. Also, it retained 100% of identified wildlife features.

The company continued to maintain superior health and safety credentials. The WPF operations reported zero work-related Covid-19 transmissions. Also, it was able to reduce its Medical Incident Rate at workplaces by 23% compared with the prior year. The company offered additional support and flexible working schedules for eligible employees during the pandemic time.
WFP made approximately $500,000 in community investments during 2020. It also advanced the mutually beneficially partnerships with First Nations. It currently has 29 active agreements with First Nations or First Nations associations.
