Weitsman Upstate Shredding Announces Major Upgrades to Solvay, NY Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Ben Weitsman of Syracuse has announced investment of $5 million to carryout upgrades at its Solvay, New York facility. The official press release issued by Owego-based Upstate Shredding, who own the facility, stated that works towards the improvement project has already begun in early April this year and is expected to complete within three months.

According to the company, the upgrade is part of capital improvement projects at various Upstate Shredding facilities throughout New York and Pennsylvania. The Syracuse area facility is the latest yard to receive funding for renovation. The company had carried out similar renovation activities to make its Binghamton, Jamestown and Owego, New York facilities look more beautiful.

The $5 million investment is expected to improve the aesthetic appeal of the facility. It includes several acres of new paving and green space and renovation of the metal shop and maintenance buildings. The improvements also consist of new office building façade, new fencing and landscaping and storm water management area. In addition, the investment will buy new equipment to boost the site productivity.

Adam Weitsman, President, Upstate Shredding stated that the improvements are a testimony of the company’s ongoing efforts to offer maximum care to the neighbors and communities in which it operates. The company aims to finish the improvement works as quickly as possible, so that the Village of Solvay has a new landmark, he said. Weitsman also added that the company is happy to be in Syracuse and look forward to serving the area for many more years.

Founded in 1996, the Owego, New York-headquartered Upstate Shredding offers scrap metal processing and recycling services in the US. It processes various types of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals.
