SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 4.50% in the week ending August 2, 2025. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.
Weekly production-overview
Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.782 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The capacity of the domestic mill was 78.7%. Remember that production was 1.705 million NT during the same week last year, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 76.8%.
In comparison to the week ending July 26, 2025, when 1,777,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.4%, the output increased marginally by 0.30% in the week ending August 2, 2025.
Region-wise output summary
The Southern region produced the most, at 791,000 net tons. The Great Lakes area produced 561,000 net tons throughout the week. The productions (in thousand net tons) of the other regions are North East-123, Midwest-234, and Western-73.
Cumulative YTD production
As of August 2, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 52.346 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 76.4%. This is a 1.1% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 51.776 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%.
