SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The weekly analysis of the Scrap Monster Price Index data suggests that steel scrap prices in most regions witnessed mixed trends during the past one week period from 22nd December, 2022 to 29th December, 2022.
The #1 HMS and Structural prices recorded massive declines, falling by nearly 3.13% each.
The #1 Bundle prices surged higher from $350 per MT to $360 per MT over the week.
#1 Busheling and Shredded Auto Scrap prices too were up by 2.7% and 2.67% respectively.
The Sheet Metal prices recorded a surge by $5 per MT to close at $235 per MT by the end of the week.
The least surge was recorded in HMS 80/20, whose price movement over the week is depicted below:
The price of various steel scrap commodities recorded significant increase during the previous week. The prices of #1 Bundle, #1 Busheling and Shredded Auto Scrap edged higher by $10 per MT each. A jump in prices by $5 per MT was reported in HMS 80/20 and Sheet Metal.
On the contrary, $1 HMS and Structural Steel scrap prices dipped on Index.
The region reported higher prices for several steel scrap categories. The highest increase was seen in prices of #1 Bundle and #1 Busheling. These were followed by Shredded Auto Scrap, Sheet Metal and HMS 80/20.
Meantime, #1 HMS and Structural Steel witnessed decline in prices by 3.13% each, upon comparison with the prior week.
The West Coast region Structural Steel and #1 HMS prices recorded decline compared to the previous week.

The prices of HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, #1 Busheling, Shredded Auto Scrap and #1 Bundle posted gains from prior-week levels.
The Chinese steel scrap market remained flat during the week. The prices of Cast Iron Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week. #1 HMS prices held steady, as shown in the below chart.
The prices of all steel scrap commodities such as #1 HMS, Cast Iron Scrap, Grade 1 Old Steel, Grade 2 Old Steel, Grade OA Structural Plate, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel held steady when compared with the week before.

The LME Steel Scrap CFR Turkey (Platts) Month 2 Closing price as on 29th December, 2022 stood at $406.50 per tonne.
The LME Steel Rebar FOB Turkey (Platts) Month 2 Contract closed at $682.0 per tonne.
Meantime, LME Steel HRC North America (Platts) and LME Steel Scrap CFR India (Platts) Month 2 prices as on 29th December, 2022 closed at $692.50 per tonne and $436.50 per tonne respectively.
