SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent weekly domestic production data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) shows that during the week ending September 13, 2025, U.S. weekly raw steel production rose by about 6.5%. The comparison between this week and the same week last year serves as the basis for this.
The nation produced 1.764 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill was operating at 77.9% capacity. Recall that during the same week last year, production was 1.657 million NT, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 74.6%.

The output was down slightly by 1.7% in the week ending September 13, 2025, compared to the week ending September 6, 2025, when 1,795,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.1%.
With 784,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. Over the course of the week, the Great Lakes region produced 556,000 net tons. The other regions' productions (in thousand net tons) are Western-62, Midwest-236, and North East-126. The Western region recorded sharp dip in production, when compared with 72,000 net tons of production a week before.
As of September 13, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 63.225 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 77.0%. This represents a 2.0% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 61.995 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%.
