Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Installs New Shredder at Port of Albany Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Owego, New York –based Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Recycling announced that it has started works on installation of third shredder at its Port of Albany facility. The multi-million dollar investment project feature addition of 3,000 hp shredder at the facility, which will have capacity to shred 80 tons of scrap material per hour. The addition of the new shredder is expected to generate 20 new positions at the facility.

Adam Weitsman, CEO of Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Recycling stated that the shredder will add jobs and revenue to the local economy. The new shredder perfectly complements its shredding operations in Owego, New York and New Castle, Pennsylvania. Further, it will help the company to achieve its goal to process 1 million tons of shredded scrap between the three shredders by 2019.

Recently, Ben Weitsman of Syracuse had announced investment of $5 million to carry out major upgrades at its Solvay, NY facility. This was part of capital improvement projects at various facilities throughout New York and Pennsylvania. Prior to this, the company had undertaken similar renovation activities to beautify its Binghamton, Jamestown and Owego, New York facilities.
