SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Grand Rapids, Michigan-headquartered Universal Forest Products, Inc. plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County. The announcement to this effect was made by Gov. Henry McMaster and the S.C. Department of Commerce. The Governor had recently announced plans to expand Florence County operations of family-owned Charles Ingram Lumber Co.

The new manufacturing facility will operate as UFP Cameron, LLC and will be located at 106, Logistics Drive in Cameron, South Carolina. The company plans to make an investment of around $6.1 million towards building the new facility, which is expected to come online during the last quarter of the current year. The facility is expected to create over 120 new jobs in the region over the forthcoming years. The proposed manufacturing facility will produce wide range of products that cater to industrial market.

The project has already won job development credits from the Coordinating Council for Economic Development. Further, it will also receive assistance of nearly half-a-million dollars from Orangeburg County from Rural Infrastructure Fund grant towards assistance to costs of building improvements.
