The lumber from the two acquired Allegheny Wood Products sawmills will be supplied to AHF Products’ solid wood flooring manufacturing facility located at Beverly, West Virginia, as it will be uneconomical to ship them to other AHF plants as they are too far away. In future, it expects to ship some of the lumber from these sawmills to the company’s Engineered Lumber plant in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

The deal is expected to save over 80 jobs at these sawmills. In addition, it will also secure the future of several loggers, truckers and suppliers in the region, said Darrell Keeling, Executive Vice President of Operations at AHF. The mills will ensure direct access to a high-quality timber supply. The purchase of these sawmills will result in a supply of approximately 25 million board feet of lumber annually, he added.

AHF has been facing shortage in hardwood supplies for their flooring plant in Beverly. The new purchase will guarantee consistent supply, thus helping AHF to maintain its high level of customer service.
