Topmost Gold Producers During Q1 2021

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Newmont Corporation emerged as the top gold producer in the first quarter of the current year. This is as per Kitco's latest ranking of world’s top ten gold mining companies by production.

Newmont’s attributable gold production during the initial quarter of 2021 totalled 1.455 million ounces (Moz), slightly lower by 2% compared with the prior year quarter. The sale of Red Lake mine, lower mill throughput and lower grade contributed to the decline. In second place was Barrick Gold, whose production totalled 1.1 Moz of gold in Q1 2021. This is significantly down by 12% compared with the production of 1.25 Moz in Q1 last year. The third largest gold miner by production was Russian Polyus. The total gold output by the company was 592,000 ounces during the quarter, more or less unchanged over the previous year.

The others in the top-ten list, along with their quarterly production (in ounces) are listed below: AngloGold Ashanti (588,000), Kinross (559,000), Gold Fields (541,000), Agnico Eagle (517,000), Newcrest (512,000), Harmony (379,000), Northern Star (366,000) and Endeavour (347,000).
