Top Electronics Brands Join Global E-Scrap Partnership

 

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading electronics companies, along with handful of organizations including the Global Electronics Council and the World Economic Forum have joined hands to launch first private sector alliance for circular electronics. The alliance has committed to a circular economy for electronics by 2030, focusing on boosting recovery and reuse of electronics.

The new initiative called ‘Circular Electronics Partnership’ has some of the biggest names in tech, consumer goods and waste management. The collaborators of the alliance include companies such as Dell, Glencore, Microsoft, Google, KPMG International, Cisco, Vodafone and Sims among others.

The partnership aims to recreate the value of electrical products by focusing on reducing waste from the design stage through to product use and recycling. It will mainly focus on temperature exchange equipment, screens and monitors, lamps, large equipment, and small IT. The industry platform will implement actions to elevate the actions and ambition of the entire industry in a coordinated way.

In addition, an action road map was also launched, which focuses on different stages of the value chain to help businesses and partner organizations overcome barriers to circularity.
