Top Aluminum Trade Bodies Denounced Russian Invasion of Ukraine

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The global aluminum trade associations representing G7 nations issued a joint statement on Russian invasion of Ukraine. The statement condemns the ongoing invasion in the strongest possible terms. The associations that are part of the joint statement are the Aluminum Association, European Aluminum, the Aluminum Association of Canada and the Japan Aluminum Association.

The statement noted that the organizations join the rest of the free world in strongly condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The ongoing crimes against humanity in the region are frankly appalling. It extended support to the use of economic sanctions and other similar measures as a diplomatic tool to combat the aggression.

According to the joint statement, the crisis situation has posed profound challenges to the global aluminum industry as a whole and the member aluminum companies across the world, much like any other industry. The fact that Russia happens to be a significant global supplier of aluminum, is likely to compound the challenges over time.

The organizations plan to work with respective governments to assess the true impacts of sanctions and similar measures on aluminum producers. Furthermore, the statement called for speedy and peaceful resolution to the current crisis.
