Tolko Announced Historical Capital Investment in Ackerman Lumber Mill

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Board of Directors of the joint venture partnership between Tolko Industries (U.S.) Ltd. and STP Holdings, LLC approved capital investment of $150 million USD in the STP lumber mill in Ackerman, Mississippi. The investment is part of expansion project at the mill which aims to upgrade the mill capacity from 120 mmfbm to mmfbm per annum. The project is expected to be completed in Q1 2024.

Governor Tate Reeves noted that the proposed investment is tremendous news for Choctaw County and Mississippi. He congratulated the entire team at Southeastern Timber Products. Furthermore, he hoped that the investment will further expand the economic strength the community and solidifies Mississippi’s position as a timber source for the world.

The Board of Directors thanked Governor Reeves for his support on this project. The STP partnership is hopeful that the investment will provide a long and prosperous future in Choctaw County and the state of Mississippi. The enhanced capabilities will help STP serve its customers across North America and abroad, they added.

Meantime, Brad Thorlakson, CEO, Tolko said that the company is excited to move to the next stage of expansion, which will result in further strengthening and expansion of the local job market.

Tolko had announced its partnership with STP for the first time in November 2018.
