The state e-scrap collection programs recorded a collection of over 12.5 million pounds of televisions and 6.8 million pounds of computer equipment in 2019.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Texas Recycles Computers and Texas Recycles Televisions program’s collection results for the previous year have been published. The report by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) points to marginal increase in collection of television equipment and slight decline in collection volume of televisions.
The state e-scrap collection programs recorded a collection of over 12.5 million pounds of televisions and 6.8 million pounds of computer equipment in 2019. This compares with the collection of 12.4 million pounds and 7 million pounds of television and computer equipment respectively in 2018.
The manufacturer to report collection of largest weight of computer equipment during the previous year was HP. The company collected 3.1 million pounds. It was followed by Dell and Acer whose collections totalled 2.6 million pounds and 500,000 pounds respectively. Meantime, the top three collectors of television equipment were Samsung (4.2 million pounds), LG (1.9 million pounds) and Best Buy (1.4 million pounds).
The state e-scrap collection programs in Texas have collected a total of 278.5 million pounds of television and computer equipment since inception. Out of this, most of the materials have been either recycled or reused.
