Tata Steel Inked Pact to Supply Low Carbon Steel

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tata Steel Nederland announced that it has reached agreements with major steel processors towards supply of low carbon steel to them. The company signed deals with steel processors, including Wuppermann, BILSTEIN, EMW Stahl Service and Arania for supply of low carbon Zeremis Carbon Lite steel. The use of lower carbon steel by these processors will result in production of greener end products by their customers.

Commenting on the important development, Hans van den Berg, CEO of Tata Steel Nederland noted that the company is proud to partner with its long-standing customers on its journey to carbon neutrality. The current strategic deals ensure adequate supply of high quality low carbon steel. It aims to supply huge quantities of high-quality green steel by the end of the current decade, when it plans to complete its first direct reduction plants and electric furnaces at its IJuiden site, he added.

Tata Steel Nederland targets to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 35-40% by 2030 and reach 100% carbon neutral by 2045. The company has been implementing carbon reduction measures across its various European locations.
