SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. domestic raw steel production recorded a notable year-on-year increase in the week ending April 11, 2026, according to the latest industry data. Total output reached 1,843,000 net tons, with capability utilization standing at 79.8 percent.

This marks a 9.4 percent rise compared to the same week in 2025, when production totalled 1,684,000 net tons and utilization was 75.0 percent. On a week-over-week basis, production edged up by 0.7 percent from 1,831,000 net tons recorded in the week ending April 4, 2026, when the utilization rate was 79.1 percent.

Year-to-date figures also indicate steady growth in the U.S. steel sector. Adjusted production through April 11, 2026, reached 25,871,000 net tons, reflecting a 5.5 percent increase from 24,519,000 net tons during the corresponding period last year. The year-to-date capability utilization rate improved to 77.5 percent from 76.1 percent in 2025.

The Southern district recorded the highest output at 830,000 net tons, with the Great Lakes region producing 515,000 net tons and the Midwest contributing 311,000 net tons. Meanwhile, the North East and Western districts posted production figures of 125,000 and 62,000 net tons, respectively.
