Tata Steel Division Honoured for Sustainability Commitments

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tata Steel announced that its Ores, Mines & Quarries (OMQ) division has bagged the prestigious ‘Greentech Energy Conservation Award 2021’, which felicitates exemplary initiatives that reduce environmental impacts by reducing energy consumption and adopting renewable energy sources.

The award is in recognition of the company’s ongoing commitment to drive sustainable practices. The announcement was made during the recently held two-day Greentech Safety Culture & Energy Summit 2021. It was received by Sanjay Kumar Roy, Head Power Distribution, OMQ Division, Tata Steel, along with Pramod Kumar Singh, Senior Manager (EEI), Equipment & Maintenance, Noamundi & Katamati, Tata Steel.

The OMQ Division had reported outstanding achievements in energy conservation, including installation of a 3 megawatt Solar Power Plant, which in turn had led to significant reduction in carbon footprint. In addition, the company had also installed solar operated tube-wells for the community, replaced energy source from diesel to battery for operation of air conditioning system and introduced energy-efficient machinery in the processing plant, said the press release.
