SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nucor Corporation, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the biggest domestic steel manufacturer and scrap metal recycler in the United States, has declared its support for Trump's proposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China.
Leon J. Topalian, the chair, president, and CEO of Nucor Corp., said in a statement supporting the tariffs that the company welcomes President Trump's initial actions in his America First Trade Agenda and looks forward to collaborating with him to uphold trade laws and support American manufacturing.

The business had previously described Trump's tariffs as a means of preventing the importation of steel that had been subsidized and currency manipulation.
On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order allowing tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico. The tariffs include a 10% tax on imports from China and a 25% tax on imports from Canada and Mexico.
Leaders, notably Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, unified against the accusations and vowed to levy comparable levies on American goods. Additionally, Trudeau urged citizens to "buy Canada" by reading store labels.
According to the most recent information, Trump has agreed to halt his tariff threats against Canada and Mexico for 30 days. Tariffs on China are still in effect, though.
