SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Swindon-headquartered Recycling Technologies announced its decision to partner with Swindon Borough Council in developing an advanced plastics recycling facility in the town. This will be the first such plant in England, capable of processing virtually all plastics. The company has already engaged Public Power Solutions Ltd. to conduct feasibility study on developing the Swindon plant.
Swindon will be the first advanced plastics recycling facility to feature RT7000 feedstock recycling machine by Recycling Technologies. In addition to the company’s feedstock recycling capabilities, the plant will also make use of mechanical processing machinery. The first such facility in the entire UK region is expected to be built at the Binn Eco Park in Perthshire, Scotland during the current year. The Scotland facility will be capable of processing around 15,000 to 25,000 tonnes of plastics per annum.
The state-of-the-art RT7000 machine by Recycling Technologies is capable of recycling all types of plastics, including those considered unrecyclable such as plastic films, colored and laminated plastic pouches and even black plastics. The machine uses a patented process which chemically recycles residual plastic waste, removes contaminants and additives to distil it into a valuable hydrocarbon product, called Plaxx.
It must be noted that Recycling Technologies already has a pilot plant in Swindon that produces Plaxx from mixed plastic waste.
As planned, the facility is expected to become online in 2020. The commissioning of the plant will make Swindon the leading council in entire England for plastic recycling.
