The new high-tech facility incorporates a wide range of sustainable solutions. It has 3.8 MWp of solar panels installed on the roof, which will provide electricity to an equivalent of 1,000 households. Also, the residual heat generated by the corrugators will be used to heat the site’s office buildings, thus resulting in substantial reduction of carbon footprint.
The facility also features a fully automated paper reel warehouse, multi-level conveyor, advanced waste management system and improved internal transport system.
Commenting on the expansion, David Ekberg, Executive Vice President, Packaging Solutions division, Stora Enso noted that it would allow the company to boost its market share in renewable and circular packaging solutions. Stora Enso is thrilled to reinforce its position as a strong regional player in Europe’s corrugated packaging market, he added.
