SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Stora Enso announced that it has completed the acquisition of the Netherlands-headquartered De Jong Packaging Group, one of the leading corrugated packaging producers in the Benelux countries. The acquisition, initially announced in early-September last year, was officially closed on 6th January, 2023.
The acquisition is expected to significantly strengthen the company’s presence in European packaging markets, in addition to providing an entry into the corrugated packaging market in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK. Furthermore, it will boost the corrugated packaging capacity of Stora Enso’s Packaging Solutions division by nearly 1,200 million sq.metre to more than 2,000 million sq. metre.

The enhanced product portfolio and geographic presence of De Jong Packaging Group is expected to complement and enhance Stora Enso’s offering, mainly in fresh produce, e-commerce and industrial packaging.
Commenting on the milestone development, Annica Bresky, President and CEO, Stora Enso noted that she is extremely pleased to officially welcome De Jong Packaging Group as part of Stora Enso. The acquisition will advance the company’s strategic direction by accelerating revenue growth and building market share in renewable packaging in Europe, she added.
