U.S. Steel Partnerships Focus on Literacy and Sports Programmes

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The leading integrated steelmaker United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel) announced multi-year partnerships with The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Penguins Foundation. The newly announced partnership will focus on the betterment and growth of communities.

According to U.S. Steel press release, the Penguins will join hands with the company to invest in literacy programmes. In addition, it will also provide access to sports. One of the programmes organized by the partnership is ‘The Reading Challenge’, an incentive-based reading program for students in the Mon Valley. The winning students will be rewarded with prizes and promotions.  The company will also partner in the “Try Hockey for Free Day” program, which will focus on eliminating the financial barrier that prevents kids from practising hockey.

Meantime, David Morehouse, President and CEO, Penguins stated that it remains committed to making a difference in its surrounding communities, in partnership with U.S. Steel.
