Adjusted raw steel production through June 20, 2026, reached 44.395 million net tons, representing a 6.1% increase compared with 41.828 million net tons produced during the same period in 2025.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. steel industry recorded a modest decline in weekly raw steel production during the week ending June 20, 2026. However, the output remained significantly higher compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest industry data, domestic raw steel production totaled 1.851 million net tons, with mills operating at a capability utilization rate of 80.2%.
The production slipped by 0.2% from the previous week's output of 1.854 million net tons. Meanwhile, the latest figure marks a 3.3% increase from the 1.792 million net tons produced during the corresponding week in 2025. The year-ago utilization rate stood at 79.8%.

Adjusted raw steel production through June 20, 2026, reached 44.395 million net tons, representing a 6.1% increase compared with 41.828 million net tons produced during the same period in 2025. The capability utilization rate for the year-to-date period rose to 78.6%, up from 76.8% recorded a year earlier.
According to regional production data, the Southern district emerged as the leading steel-producing region during the week, producing 833,000 net tons. The Great Lakes region followed with 496,000 net tons, while the Midwest produced 318,000 net tons. The North East contributed 129,000 net tons, and the Western district generated 75,000 net tons.
U.S. mills produced 1.851 million net tons of raw steel.
Output declined slightly by 0.2%, from 1.854 million net tons to 1.851 million net tons.
Production was 3.3% higher than the 1.792 million net tons produced during the corresponding week last year.
