U.S. Steel Shipments Up 4.6% in November 2025 Despite Monthly Dip

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported an increase in U.S. steel mill shipments for November 2025, highlighting continued annual growth despite a month-on-month decline. According to AISI data, domestic steel mills shipped 7,073,659 net tons during November, representing a 4.6 percent rise compared with 6,762,637 net tons shipped in November 2024.

On a sequential basis, shipments fell 8.0 percent from the 7,692,319 net tons recorded in October 2025, reflecting softer demand conditions late in the year. Market participants noted that monthly volatility is typical as producers adjust output in response to inventory levels, seasonal factors, maintenance schedules, and changing end-user demand across construction, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.

Year-to-date performance remained positive. Total U.S. steel shipments for the first eleven months of 2025 reached 83,498,728 net tons, up 5.0 percent from 79,493,824 net tons shipped during the corresponding period of 2024, underlining resilience in domestic steel consumption.

Product-level data showed mixed trends. Shipments of corrosion-resistant sheet and strip rose 4 percent year to date, while hot-rolled sheet and strip increased 1 percent. In contrast, cold-rolled sheet and strip shipments declined 3 percent overall demand.
