SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cleveland-Cliffs, the owner of the steel plant along Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township) announced in May that it would be idling the plant. In its first quarter report, the company cited continuing underperformance and financial losses as the primary reasons for the move.

According to a WARN Notice submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, the idling was effective as of June 30th and impacted 107 workers.

A WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Notice is a document required to be submitted to the state when an employer plans significant layoffs or a closure. The workers were classified as “layoffs” in the notice, as the plant could reopen in the future.
