Man dies at west Charlotte steel company

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A man died at a west Charlotte manufacturing plant Sunday. 

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police records, the incident occurred just after 4:30 p.m., with the address listed being the SteelFab location on Old Dowd Road. The site fabricates steel and is one of company’s 18 such facilities across the country. 

Medic pronounced the 33-year-old dead at the scene at 4:49 p.m. 

CMPD said the the death happened outside, declaring it a “public accident” but provided no other details. 

A spokesman for the N.C. Department of Labor says the incident is currently under investigation.
