SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ArcelorMittal has marked a significant milestone with the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new integrated steel plant by its joint venture ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India at Rajayyapeta in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. The event was attended by senior officials from the Government of India and the state government, along with Lakshmi Mittal and Aditya Mittal.

The upcoming facility will produce high-quality, value-added steel products and is expected to generate over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. Strategically located near the coast and connected to key iron ore resources via an existing slurry pipeline, the plant is designed to be one of the most cost-efficient steelmaking units in the country.

With an estimated investment exceeding ₹70,000 crore, the project will be developed in phases, with steel production targeted to begin by early 2029. The initiative aligns with India’s long-term goal of achieving 300 million tonnes of crude steel capacity by 2030–31.
