Steel Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report – July 4, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steel scrap prices in all regions did not move over the last week, from June 27 to July 3, 2025, according to the weekly review of the Scrap Monster Price Index data.

North America Prices

Throughout the week, the prices of the #1 Bundle and #1 Busheling remained stable. During the week, the prices of #1 HMS and HMS 80/20 were also flat on the index. The following chart shows the weekly price movement of #1 HMS:



The price of Sheet Metal remained unchanged from the $235 per MT level of the previous week. Additionally, there was no change in the price of Structural Steel or Shredded Auto Scrap.

 

USA East Coast Prices

Over the past week, the prices of various steel scrap commodities remained unchanged. Sheet metal, shredded auto scrap, #1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, #1 HMS, and HMS 80/20 all maintained their pricing. Additionally, the price of Structural Steel on the Index stayed constant at $320 per MT. Below is the #1 Busheling pricing chart for the week ending July 3, 2025:

  

USA Midwest Prices

For all steel scrap categories, the region reported flat pricing. The #1 Bundle's price variation over the past week is depicted in the chart below:

 

USA West Coast Prices

Upon comparison with the previous week, the West Coast region's steel scrap prices remained unchanged. In comparison to previous weeks, the prices of HMS 80/20, #1 HMS, Sheet Metal, #1 Busheling, Structural Steel, Shredded Auto Scrap, and #1 Bundle did not change.

China Prices

Throughout the week, the Chinese steel scrap market stayed stagnant. #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged from the previous week. The chart below indicates that the price of Cast Iron scrap remained stable.

 

Europe Prices

When compared to the previous week, the prices of all steel scrap commodities were consistent, including #1 HMS, Cast Iron Scrap, Grade 1 Old Steel, Grade 2 Old Steel, Grade OA Structural Plate, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel.

LME Steel Market Update

The LME Steel Scrap CFR Turkey (Platts) Month 2 Closing price as on 3 July, 2025 stood at $351.00 per tonne.

The LME Steel Rebar FOB Turkey (Platts) Month 2 Contract closed at $539.50 per tonne, modestly higher upon comparison with the price of $536.50 at the close of the previous week.

Meantime, LME Steel Scrap CFR India (Platts) Month 2 prices as on 3 July, 2025 closed at $373.00 per tonne.
