Sonoco Wins Top Honors for Packaging Excellence and Innovation at 2019 FPA Awards

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sonoco-the U.S.-based international provider of diversified consumer packaging received top honors for packaging excellence and innovation at the recently held Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) Annual Meeting. The company was awarded three Silver Achievement Awards for its PrimaPak packaging for Green Giant Veggie Spiral. The awards were presented during a ceremony held on Wednesday, March 6 in conjunction with the meeting.

Jimmy Sanfilippo, president of Sonoco’s Elk Grove operation shared the excitement in providing state-of-the-art, purpose-driven packaging to Green Giant. The company was instrumental in designing and developing the microwaveable packaging that could effectively withstand the rigors of distribution and significantly lower the overall carbon footprint. The company was successful in delivering a novel packaging solution that could withstand rigorous environments throughout the supply chain, Sanfilippo added.

The revolutionary PrimaPak System is a flexible, stackable, re-closable package made from a roll of film. The rectangular or square-shaped PrimaPak packages with vent holes can be made as flexible or rigid. It fits perfectly in new retail-ready cases and can use a peel-reseal label or a press-to-close zipper. In addition, it enhances cube utilization throughout the supply chain.

A total of 14 packaging solutions were recognized during the 2019 FPA Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Ceremony.
