SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading European packaging major Smurfit Kappa has been recognized for its sustainability solutions at the Nestle Supplier Awards.
The company won a total of five awards. These include the prestigious ‘Best Sustainable Supplier’ award. In addition, it also won an ‘Outstanding Individual’ award and three other individual awards for exemplary service.
The ‘Best Sustainable Supplier’ award was in acknowledgement of the company’s efforts in removing the need for plastic wrapping on Nestlé UK’s Azera Nitro Col Brew Coffee product. The 100% recyclable shelf-ready pack has helped in removing approximately 26,000m2 of plastic shrink wrap from the supply chain in the very first year since its introduction.
Michelle McClements - UK National Accounts Director, SK UK won the ‘Outstanding Individual’ award. The other individual award winners are Richard Moorcraft - Smurfit Kappa Yate, Amanda Griffiths - Smurfit Kappa Mold and Barry Munton - Smurfit Kappa CRP Litho.
Smurfit Kappa has been providing sustainable solutions to its customers as part of the ‘Better Planet Packaging’ initiative. The company’s collaboration with Nestle has led to creation of innovative packaging solutions with significantly less carbon footprint.
