Scrap Metal Recycling Firm Highlights Drivers of Recycled Metals Demand

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): India-based leading metal scrap processor and recycler, Nupur Recyclers has identified five drivers of demand for recycled metals.

According to Rajesh Gupta, Founder of Nupur Recyclers, one of the key drivers is the construction sector. Incidentally, construction industry accounts for almost 40% of the world’s consumption of iron, steel and aluminum. The new constructions as well as upgrades to existing buildings require huge amounts of metal, thus creating constant need for recycled metals.

The second huge consumer of metal is the automotive industry. It must be noted that metals are used extensively to build the frames, engines and other parts of cars and trucks. The industry has been one of the biggest drivers of demand for recycled metals.

The metal recycling industry has grown rapidly, partly due to constant demand for consumer electronics. Many of the electronic devices contain valuable metals including gold, silver, copper and aluminum. Proper end-of-life recycling of such devices will help recover precious metals and protect environment. Surprisingly, only 12,5% of the global electronic waste is currently recycled.

The other key sectors that drive metal recycling demand are green energy initiatives and defense and aerospace industries. In fact, the defense and aerospace sector has been finding new ways to use recycled metals in its planes, jets and other products.
