Schnitzer Steel Appointed  Glenda J. Minor as New Independent Director

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Portland, Oregon-based Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. announced appointment of Glenda J. Minor as a new independent director. The Board declared that the appointment will be effective immediately and that she will also join as a member of the Board’s Audit and Nominating & Corporate Governance Committees.

The company press release noted that Ms. Minor currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Silket Advisory Services, a privately-owned consulting firm which advises companies on financial, strategic and operational initiatives. Prior to that, she had been the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the steel manufacturer, EVRAZ North America Limited. She has also held executive finance roles at Visteon Corporation and DaimlerChrysler and financial management roles at General Motors Corporation and General Dynamics Corporation.

Tamara L. Lundgren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schnitzer welcomed Glenda to Schnitzer’s Board of Directors. Her broad executive management and board governance experience will add immediate value as the company pursues its strategic initiatives and expand its business. The appointment demonstrates Schitzer Steel’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels, he added.
